December 7, 1941: “A date that will live in infamy.” Those were the words U.S. President, Franklin D. Roosevelt, used to describe the attack on Pearl Harbor in his speech to Congress and the American public on December 8, 1941. A youtube clip of that speech can be found at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VqQAf74fsE. It was that premeditated attack by the Imperial Japanese Navy on the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor that ultimately brought the U.S. into World War II.
Wednesday, December 7, 2011, marks the 70th anniversary of that event. Special commemorations will be take place that day in Pearl Harbor (http://www.pearlharborevents.com/pearl-harbor-day-70th-anniversary-commemoration.html).
